# Hacker News points vs. YC homepage installs

Data behind the Installmap research post
[Hacker News hates Google Analytics. 41% of YC startups use it anyway](https://installmap.com/research/hacker-news-hates-google-analytics).

## Files

- `summary.csv`: one row per tool. HN story count and total points for
stories linking to the tool's own domain (all time, pulled 2026-10-14),
next to the number and share of crawled YC company homepages running the
tool (crawl of September 2026, 5,386 usable homepages of 6,133).
- `hn_stories.csv`: the per-story rows behind the summary. `kind` is
`domain` (story URL host is the tool's domain or a subdomain) or `title`
(the exact phrase "Google Analytics alternative" in the story title).
Points and comment counts are the values at pull time.
