Framer passed Webflow among Y Combinator's newest startups

We crawled the homepages of 5,386 Y Combinator companies and grouped them by batch year. Webflow is ahead of Framer in every block of batches up to 2022-23, where it runs 218 sites (21.6%) to Framer's 97 (9.6%). In the 2024 and 2025 batches the order flips: Framer is on 159 of 1,157 sites (13.7%) and Webflow on 118 (10.2%). The 2026 batches so far point the same way, with Framer on 35 of 642 sites (5.5%) and Webflow on 12 (1.9%).

Key findings

1. Framer is on 13.7% of the 2024-25 batches and Webflow on 10.2%.
2. Webflow leads in every earlier block, by 15.4% to 1.9% in the batches up to 2019 and by 25.6% to 5.1% in 2020-21.
3. Year by year, the two are level in 2024 (84 and 83 of 550 sites) and Framer has more than twice Webflow's count in 2025 (76 and 34 of 607).
4. WordPress runs on 15.1% of the batches up to 2019 and on 0.5% of 2024-25.

Each cell is a count of homepages with its share of the crawled homepages in that block in brackets. "<5" means fewer than five companies.

The switch happened in 2025

We expected a slow handover spread over several batches. The single-year counts put most of it in one batch. Webflow's share peaked at 27.7% of the 2020 batch and was still 15.3% in 2024, when Framer had caught up to 15.1%. In the 2025 batch Webflow drops to 5.6% and Framer holds at 12.5%.

Both tools are lower in the 2026 batches. Many of those sites are a few weeks old, and a large part of the newest batches runs a site built in code instead of a site builder: our post on YC stacks by batch found Vercel on 50.8% of the 2025 and 2026 batches. Framer's lead over Webflow holds inside that smaller pool.

We can't see a company switch tools from one crawl. What we can see is that Webflow is still on 25.6% of the 2020-21 companies, so the drop sits in the newest batches.

How we counted

We fetched 6,133 YC company homepages from the YC company directory in September 2026 and counted the 5,386 that returned a usable page, using the rendered page where we had one and a plain fetch otherwise. The batch year is the year the directory gives for each company. A site counts for Framer when it loads from Framer's user content host or module CDN, and for Webflow when it loads Webflow's asset domains or carries its page data attributes. We see the homepage only, on one day, so we never watched a company switch tools and cannot say when a given site moved. We print no count under five.
